一、冠词的基本用法
用在名词前，表示名词的特指、泛指。
单数名词：a/an泛指单一、每一、任一事物
the特指——上文提到的事物或者是人
—— 被限制性修饰语所限定的人或者是事物
——双方默认的事或者是人
——世界上独一无二的事物
复数名词和不可数名词：
the特指—— 被限制性修饰语所限定的人或者是事物
——双方默认的事或者是人
——上文提到的事物或者是人
零冠词
（1）不定冠词a/an
用在单数名词前，表示某一类人或事物中的一个。
an honest person; a useful book; an old man
a notebook
指一个人、动物或一件事物的某一类。
Give me a pen, please.
用于序数词前，表示“又一，再一”，相当于another.
I want to read the book a second time.
指任何一个人、动物或一件事物。
A triangle has three angles.
三角形有三个角。
指某人或某物，但不具体说明何人或何物。
A car stopped in front of the gate.
不定冠词可指“事物的单位”，如“每日”、“每斤”等。
4 yuan a kilo.
three times a day.
（2）定冠词the
特指某（些）人或某（些）物。
This is the house where Lu Xun once lived.
The book on the desk is an English dictionary.
指说话人与听话人所默认的人或物。
The Manager is in his office.
Let's meet at the railway station.
重复上文提过的人或物。
Last week I read a story and a play.The story is about……
表示在世界上独一无二的事物。
the sun ,the moon, the earth ,the sky, the world.
the用于单数可数名词前或者在形容词前，表示某一类人或事物。
The favourite fast food in the United States is the hamburger.
The poor always live harder than the rich.（poverty、prosperity）
乐器的名称前也常用the.
阶级、党派的名称前需用the.
the Chinese Communist Party中国共产党
在序数词、形容词最高级和表示方位的名词前，常用the
the biggest city , the first month , in the east.
在下列几种场合中，常要用定冠词。

二、不用冠词的场合
（3）不用冠词的场合
专有名词、抽象名词和物质名词前，一般不用冠词。
Canada, Japanese, love, hatred（恨）, glass玻璃
名词前已有作定语用的this,that,my,your,whose,some,any,
no,each,every等代词时，不用冠词。
I enjoyed every minute of it.
季节、月份、星期几等名称前，一般不用冠词。
Her little daughter was born on Monday in April 1987.
复数名词表示某一类人或事物时，不用冠词。
Books are my best friends.
称呼语前面不用冠词，表示头衔和职务的名词前常不用冠词。
Mrs.Johnson is director of the office.
在某些固定词组里，名词之前常不用冠词。
in danger, in fact（actually）事实上
三餐饭的名称前，常不用冠词。
had breakfast, after lunch, have sth for supper.但指一特定的餐食时则需用定冠词，如：Come on, or the dinner will be getting cold.
球类运动、棋类游戏等名词前不用冠词。
play table tennis,（乒乓球）play chess（象棋）
节日、假日等名称之前不用冠词New Year's Day（元旦）
某些固定词组中，常不用冠词。

Side by side肩并肩
Young and old老老少少
From beginning to end从头到尾
